I do remember whom are not complaining or attack other deaf people for personal gains;
I do remember whom are in patience because other people are selfish and want it ALL;
I do remember whom have done nothing wrong because other people are in full of ignorance;

I do remember whom are seek their own truth rather than lie in their own words, or believe

in their lies...

Those who falls in negative traps, or being influenced into become negative;
those do not meant to be fallen, but they did;
they must go through to these experiencesto get strong again;

You CAN! You CAN!

Those who have fallen in negative can be strong again! They do have hidden strength!
Those who are selfish, or in full of ignorance or want ALL (either deaf or hearing) should go!!

This is the website for British Sign Language Dictionary, created by Donaldson College, but I have checked out the dictionary, and check out the food section - some of signs are crap!! These signs are never used in deaf community. Are hearing people getting away with it, by create their own signs, and hope deaf community would never find out...

well, we have! It is the top of the Google.co.uk list - well, 2nd one... hearing children who learn sign language will sign the wrong signs ... corrupted!

I got the stranger feeling and got me thinking about whether we need deaf people together to communicate via BSL, to understand each other, in a sense.

In my mind, I feel I need to shake people's head on and on... and smile to them, deaf people need their strength, and look at 2006 is the year we need to change deaf people's mind, and get their strength, to fight back to the hearing community.

We can have some fear of being let down, or being hurt, or have our kind of fear whatever the purpose stop us thinking positive... we have to fight our battles. I think one of the main reasons in deaf community is that distrust deaf people each other - I have seen it. That makes us giving up, and avoid the issue. We have to stop ... and share information and reveal our fears. Yes, I do have many fears - but every day, I start to take them out ...

Yesterday I made a promise that I will keep deaf people's eyes open as long as I live.

This is a letter I have wrote to my LEA to explain what happened about the interpreter who treated me badly and treat me like I am stupid. No ... no more ... no more!! I now tell you my side of story, I make my own life pact today now deaf people's eyes must be opened and I will keep my pact as long as I live!

Dear LEA

I have still have more problems with the interpreter before Christmas and I think I should let you know.

I was happy with the interpreter, who were fine, then he cancelled the lecture saying he got the flu. I was relieved because I can continue do the work, and told him getting better, with nice email, offer cold remedies suggestions. He says he should be in next week to help with my presentation.

Then I asked him in his email if I can meet him earlier next week to help to check my english. He did not respond, then three days later he responded by asking a different question ... wonder if there is
any lectures after christmas. I replied saying I do not know but I will ask the lecturers, and ask him please respond about checking English.

Then he did not respond until Sunday saying he will not do it, and want the presentation notes in advance. I need someone to check english but he seems not care. I have said to him, he should let me
know last week so I can find someone else but it was too late as I only had one day left to find someone.

I knew he is free on that day, but he choosen to say no. He said he is free on that day but want to spend time to move things - I said try to come earlier so I can explain about presentation, he said no,
his time from 2pm to 5pm he wont come earlier. I said all interpreters must come early to prepare the meetings, check with sign languages etc.. he said he will come but will not come early, and must leave on sharp at 5pm in rude way.

He become very demanding about i should get 2 interpreters (I have already explained to him from beginning that I cannot get 2 interpreters because university refused, and if he got any problems,
he should contact the university directly not me). But he still demand it.

He dont want to do voice over the presentation - he suggest that lecturers should talk in notes front of me. I have told him two weeks ago I am still thinking about it, but I feel I want to talk in
sign language because it is who I am and should spoke in my own language and he should voice over. He seems to be not happy about it ... but I have decided to go ahead.

He refused to do it, I told him I will try to hand the presentation notes by tomorrow morning. I went home afterwards and cannot access to the Internet until tomorrow morning. I have been tried to prepare
the notes for him.

Then next day - the presentation day - I checked the email ... his email say he said he need to know that I must respond to his requirements by end of the night ... if he did not hear from me on
monday evening, then he will not come on that day. He knew presentation is very very important day of my life - I have reminded him many times he must not let me down. But I did not check the
internet on monday evening because I was home. He know that I don't have internet at home.

I think he got misunderstood what my intentions are. My intention are in a nice way asking for his help, then he become demanding other things I should do for him etc... I was very surprised because he
was nice to me in past few weeks before this event.

I thought oh shit, no interpreter for the presentation. I went to the presentation at 1.30pm. I told him I will come at 1.30pm and up to him if he can come.

But surprisely he arrived at 1.50pm but went to toliet (interpeter should come 15 minutes early to talk about things) then he come at 1.55pm I told him I thought he decided not to come, he said he sent
me an email he decided to come, but I did not receive it.

He thought he would not do the voice over. I said no, he have to voice over my presentation as I told him I decided to talk in my own language - is that crime to do so? He said he thought I would not do
it, I told him I told him I was thinking about it but I decided now I want to do it.

He become very rude give me notes now please! Other student who is hearing saw everything. I said NO! He should do voice over as he is an interpreter, and I aware that quality may be low (my problem), but he have to do it as he is an interpreter. He said No way! He started to talk to lecturer without my permission - he did not sign just talk in voice. Then he told me it is ok that I can talk
in BSL without interpreter and I can pass the presentation. (I disagree) He talked to lecturer without my permission. I explained to him it was not fair for him to do that to me and I tried to
cooperate with you try to find time for him and me to talk but he decided he come to 1.50 and go to toliet and expect me to think he do nothing and do no work.

He said He WILL NOT DO IT! I tried to explain why the confusion over the emails, he dont want to listen to me, he said he got no time to listen to me and forget all about it because presentation start
soon. I said no i want to talk and sort it out so we both can understand issues (my presentation does not have to start for 30 to 40 minutes depend on other students' presentation). He said he will
not do it! Three times!

I decided I cannot get nowhere with him as he was not listening to me. I decided to told him to leave now! I told him to leave the lecture. I thought it was right for me to tell him to leave becasue
I would not feel comfortable if he stay here, and my presentation would not be good with him getting away with it.

He said he will send me invoice and expect me to pay for it. Then he went to lecturer and talk to her without my permission ... he talked to her about 5 minutes without use sign language. I did not know
what he have told him - I was upset becasue he went to her and told his side of story which the lecturer easily believe him. I am in trap because I cannot explain to lecturer without my own language -
BSL to explain my own side of story ... i dont have any interpreter at that time.

I got really mad and went to the interpreter to stop! I told david he is clever and try to save his skins, and please go i told him to leave. He still talk to the lecturer in words I dont
understand. Then he decided to leave.

I saw the lecturer are worrying and confused what is happening. The lecturer said it is ok for me to talk without voiceover but later they allow me to write a full written presentation (which is another story to challenge university for my right to access to my own language).

I now have told these interpreters (including previous interpreters who let me down) that I will make sure that they will not get away with it and I now I will be around to make sure to get that right, as long as I live!

I am a Deaf British Sign Language User. I do like this title of label of who I am, rather than say I am Deaf.

I look forward to provide text and bsl logs in this site, where deaf and hearing people can read about my own experiences of being discriminated every day by hearing people (including hearing pretenders they are in deaf world), and some deaf people. I said some deaf people because some are burn out or are ignorant, but don't want others to take over the campaign for selfish reasons. I will honestly use my own opinions to provide truth. I will use my own experiences and other people experiences (name withdrawn).
